'It was such a delight to have the talented Katie and her friend Anna singing for us at our wedding reception in May 2014. Katie’s pure and unaffected voice and her clever harmonies with her friend Anna blended perfectly with the day we had planned - an English country garden afternoon tea reception. So many of our guests told us how much they’d enjoyed listening to the music we had chosen together and her own compositions which made it truly special and unique. Katie was particularly helpful with choosing songs and reassuring us that ‘all would be fine’ and it was! So many thanks to both of them for their fabulous rendition of ‘Let it be me’ by the Everly Brothers, a special request from us oldies! A truly memorable and special moment among so many. We wish Katie a wonderful musical career - she deserves every success.' Sonia & Anthony
'Of all the many young up-and-coming musical stars of tomorrow’s world who find gigging in small local venues a popular way to get their name and image remembered on their way to the top, Katie Waygood has steadily risen from strength to strength and is now, very deservedly, one of the most highly acclaimed unsigned acoustic singer/songwriters in the Dorset/Hampshire area.
Katie’s voice is as enchanting as Annie Haslam, as wide-ranging as Joni Mitchell, and even as dramatic as Tori Amos when the mood or tone of a particular song calls for it. Her set list always consists of an eclectic mix of musical styles, while linking every song together in a way that is both subtle yet sophisticated.
Her songwriting capabilities are second to none, elegantly combining beautiful melodies with imaginative and thoughtful lyrics that defy her age. Earlier original numbers such as ‘Courage’ and ‘Skip’ are among those the audience will find themselves sub-consciously singing in the shower days after a performance. She is also very competent in a broad range of covers from Elvis Presley right up to KT Tunstall and Laura Marling, her version of each song remaining faithful to the original sound and style, yet still injecting her own identity into them.
Of course, it’s not just about the music. As any successful business or human relations expert will say, “People buy people first”. Most musicians, artists, authors, or anyone involved in the performing arts will have their persona and identity shaped largely by their geographical roots. While so many pop stars come crawling out of inner cities and tell tales of life in urban decay, Katie’s idyllic upbringing in the quintessentially English surroundings of the New Forest shine through into her music. Refreshingly different from some of the obnoxious and arrogant stars of today’s chart music, Katie is a sweet-natured, compassionate, down-to-earth girl, which will endear her greatly to audiences of all ages.
It is a great honour to have known Katie for such a time as to watch her fan base and strength as a performer grow, and I am genuinely excited to see what the future holds for her.'
